![]() ☀️Sunshine sparkled through my office window casting a beautiful glow on a glass of lemon water. Sitting next to it a snake plant in it’s crisp white pot, just reaching for that light. As I stared at those two things I thought, our needs are pretty simple aren’t they... so why does life too often seem so darn complicated? 🤔I wonder if we’re making it harder on ourselves than what it needs to be. Creating work just so we can stay *busy* because we think it dictates our value {which has become an American badge of honor, but I’ll visit that another time}. Or we amass more (& more) to content ourselves, then become overwhelmed by the visual stimulation and time & energy needed for maintenance. Needing to feel contentment again, we reach out for more stuff... or we busy ourselves as a distraction... and so the cycle continues. 😓The entire situation is exhausting, isn’t it? I’ve long said (in my push for simplicity) the more you have, the more you have to maintain - especially when what we have is at an all time high. Taking care of all the stuff and keeping up with all the things is running us ragged. {Raise your hand if you’re ready to get off this ride} 🙋🏼♀️
It reminds me of a question I often ask my coaching clients. It can be applied in so many life situations, so I’ll pose it for this one. What would you prefer to be experiencing? Take a moment to ask yourself this and thoughtfully consider your answer. It’s a simple question really, but one we don’t often take time to ask. We just loop through the cycle day in & day out. I’m inviting you to jump off that ride, for just a moment even, and create a mental picture of how you’d rather be experiencing life. Use your senses... what do you see, what does it feel like, who are you with, what are they saying, what’s surrounding you? Fully engage with that vision, feel into it, and then take one step towards that new version of life today. What change will you make?
